Introduction to Committees

A new Committee Structure was introduced on 1 April 2011. The changes were introduced in response to the HMIC report ‘Police Governance in Austerity’ and aim to provide a clear focus during the remaining 13 months of the Authority’s existence until the election of Police and Crime Commissioners that are planned for May 2012.

Humberside Police Authority meets quarterly, with an additional meeting in February to approve the Policing Plan and set the budget for the following year.  There are also Standing Committees which  meet on a quarterly basis throughout the year.  These are:
The Standards Committee meet twice per year.
 
All of the above meetings are open to the public to attend, although they may be excluded for the discussion of confidential items.

JOINT POLICE AUTHORITIES COMMITTEE

The four Yorkshire and Humberside police authorities (for North, South and West Yorkshire and Humberside) formed a Joint Committee in 2006 to promote and oversee collaborative working across the four police forces in the region.
