Police Property Act Fund
Under the Police (Disposal of Property) Regulations 1975, monies in the Police
Property Fund are used to make payments to charitable causes as agreed by the
Police Authority. This is money recovered by the Police Force which cannot be
traced back to its rightful owner.
In order to be considered, projects asking for funding are required to either
be based in Humberside or to be a national charity with a project working in the
Humberside Police area. The organisation must show that immediate funding for
the project is required and be able to provide recently audited accounted accounts
alongside details of the project, which must be connected with the reduction of
crime and disorder or relate to community safety in some way. Click here to view additional information on the required criteria.
Between December 2007 and April 2008, the Authority distributed a total of £24,840.
A formal presentation was made to the groups in receipt of the funding:

£750 of the funds were presented to the Lonsdale Community Centre in Hull. The
aim of the funding was to provide arts and crafts activities for children and
young people between the ages of five and 21. The objective was to keep them off
the streets, out of trouble and to provide a creative and diversionary activity.
The Community Centre has kindly provided the Police Authority with photographs
from the events held. A selection of these can be seen below. The photographs
illustrate the use to which the materials purchased from the fund are being put
to use.
