Gabriel was born in Ireland but has now lived in Humberside for 16 years. He has a diploma in Computer Studies, a BA (Hons) in Combined Studies (literature and business) and a MA (Dist) in European Governance.
 
Formerly employed as a Lecturer of Politics at the University of Hull, Gabriel is now the Chief Officer of HANA* (Humber All Nations Alliance).
 
Gabriel participates in a wide range of community work; he is the Chair of the Northern Area Housing Board, Chair of the Northern Area Neighbourhood Management Board, Chair of North Hull Estate Tenant and Resident Association. In addition, he is the Vice Chair of HURAT (Hull United Residents and Tenants Associations), a North West PACT Board Member and a Member of the Yorkshire and Humber Tenants Federation Committee.
 
Gabriel joined the Police Authority in April 2007 and is interested in community engagement and participation. He also has particular interest in good governance, accountability and transparency. As an Independent Member of the Police Authority, Gabriel would like to ensure that the Police Authority is responsive to the needs of all the communities of Humberside.
 
* HANA is an umbrella organisation formed in 2002 by BME groups in the Humber Sub region.
