After serving in the HM Forces for 22 years (1957 to 1979) John worked at GEC and the Gamebore Cartridge Company.
 
John has lived in Humberside for 20 years and is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Financial Accountants.
 
John plays an active part in the community; he is the Chair of both his local Parish Council and of the South East Holderness Police Partnership Forum.
