Humberside Police Authority currently administers two volunteer schemes.
The Independent Custody Visiting Scheme is a statutory scheme designed to ensure that those being held in police custody are being held in accordance with their rights as set out in the Police and Criminal Evident Act (Code C). Volunteers carry out unannounced audit checks at custody suites to interview and observe those being held.
The Animal Welfare Lay Visiting Scheme is a programme of visits to the stables and kennels where Humberside Police's working dogs and horses are housed and trained. The scheme checks on the animals' welfare, standard of facilities, equipment, training and health.
