Helen originates from Mexborough, South Yorkshire but has lived in Humberside for 24 years. After many years working in education, Helen is now employed as the Chief Executive for the Humberside Learning Consortium.

Helen served as a local councillor from 1999 to 2002 and was a school governor for 5 years (2001 to 2006) during which time she was employed as the Vice Principal of North Lindsay College, Scunthorpe.

Helen joined the Police Authority as an Independent Member in May 2006 and her particular areas of interest include performance management, strategic planning and training and development.

In her spare time, Helen coaches and officiates netball and enjoys walking and playing tennis.
